Perspective. To tolerate the devastation of the state of the world, I remind myself that every day wonderful things happen. We just don’t hear about them. Doesn’t change the horrible, but it feeds my heart to help me stay ready to be a positive light, an example of the change I want to see happen. I struggle every day to be that positive light and I fail more often than not, but I try. That’s my perspective. And by the way, not for nothing, but you are a beautiful writer. I enjoy your writings so much. Thank you for putting so much of yourself out there.

I am not without hope for a future, but I refuse to focus on that at this moment of reality that is a turning point - if Americans do not vote for a different America in November, I do not believe we will have another chance. And, your articulate response of your perspective here was wonderful to read.

I echo Andrew. Living a life of joy amidst a world of chaos isn’t easy, but I believe it is imperative. Go back to your garden. Add another token to your writing nook. Honor the tragedies you have witnessed by being fully alive. A tiny difference is still a difference. Don’t let the mourning overtake you. You are too valuable to too many people. The only perspective that makes sense is finding your internal peace. I am sending love.

I have much joy in my life. And, I live in fear right now. Both can be true. I figure we have three months before the election, and if Americans do not vote in large numbers for a different America, then we are the America I am living now. But focusing only on hope or joy or optimism is a luxury I can't afford. "Success is found balanced between optimism and realism, where it is unhindered by the weight of pessimism." Wes Fesler.

Clicking like after reading this post seemed inappropriate and since it is the only option, I did not. A very heavy heart wrote these words. It is so true that we all live in our own worlds to a great extent because the insanity of the larger world is too hard to fathom and process.

.Thank you for this deep and thoughtful piece. I am my father's optimist, but sometimes it's hard to be the big 'O'. LIke right now. Sadness prevades.
